Encoded
To URL-encode text, choose Encode and type it: "Query value" encodes everything reserved (for values inside a query string), "Whole URL" keeps the URL's structure. To decode, paste an encoded URL — query parameters are listed below.
Common percent-encodings
| Character | Encoded | Character | Encoded |
|---|---|---|---|
| space | %20 | & | %26 |
| / | %2F | = | %3D |
| ? | %3F | # | %23 |
| + | %2B | @ | %40 |
| : | %3A | é | %C3%A9 |
Why it matters that this runs locally
Many online developer tools send what you paste to a server — risky when it contains API keys, session tokens, customer data or proprietary code. This tool runs entirely in your browser: open your browser's Network tab and you will see that nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
- What is URL encoding?
- Also called percent-encoding, it replaces characters that aren't allowed in URLs with % followed by two hex digits — a space becomes %20 and é becomes %C3%A9.
- Should I encode the whole URL or just a value?
- Encode individual query values with "Query value" (like encodeURIComponent). "Whole URL" (like encodeURI) leaves :, /, ? and & intact so the URL still works.
- Is my data sent to a server?
- No. Everything runs in your browser, so tokens, keys, passwords and other sensitive data you paste never leave your device.
