Frequently asked questions

What size is an Instagram post, Story and YouTube thumbnail?
An Instagram post is 1080×1080 pixels (square), an Instagram or Facebook Story is 1080×1920, a YouTube thumbnail is 1280×720 and an X (Twitter) header is 1500×500. Each is a one-tap preset in the resizer.
Will resizing crop my photo?
Only if the new shape is different from the original. With "keep proportions" on, the height follows the width so nothing is cut. If you pick a different shape, the photo is cropped from the center to fit.
Which format should I choose?
JPG is best for photos, PNG for graphics, screenshots and images with transparency, and WebP gives the smallest files for websites. The estimated file size updates as you change settings.
Can I resize HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Yes in Safari, which can open HEIC. Other browsers cannot decode HEIC yet; convert it to JPG first, or set your iPhone camera to "Most Compatible".
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so your files never leave your device and nothing is stored on our servers. It even keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
