Tips for converting images
- Converting a JPG to PNG doesn't restore lost detail — it only stops further loss when you edit and re-save.
- Transparent areas turn white when you convert to JPG, which has no transparency.
- For websites, WebP or AVIF usually gives the smallest file; keep a JPG copy for email and older apps.
- iPhone HEIC photos convert to JPG for maximum compatibility with Windows, Android and websites.

Frequently asked questions
- Which format should I convert to?
- JPG for sharing photos anywhere, PNG for graphics and transparency, WebP or AVIF for the smallest files on websites. When converting a transparent image to JPG, transparent areas become white.
- Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?
- Yes. HEIC photos are decoded in your browser — they never leave your device — and can be saved as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. This tool runs entirely in your browser, so your files never leave your device and nothing is stored on our servers. It even keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
